“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

After many years of prayer, a dear friend’s husband finally accepted the Lord as his Savior. What glorious day! My sister-in-Christ is a wonderful witness to the power of a praying wife.

“Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.” (1 Peter 3:1-2)

Not only has this friend been a beautiful witness to her husband, but she didn’t give up praying for his salvation, and her persistence finally paid off. What hope this brings to each of us who are still waiting for our prayers to be answered. She could have simply kept this wonderful news to only a few, but instead she shared it with many. Her announcement of this awesome event helped me realize just how important it is for Christians to tell one another of God’s mighty acts.

“Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.” (Psalm 105:1-3)

It seems we are eager to share prayer requests, but we don’t always remember to announce when our prayers have been answered. Sharing answered prayer with others helps to strengthen and build the faith of all believers.

Perhaps, like my friend, you have a loved one whom you desperately hope and pray will give their lives to the Lord. I’m sure my friend would tell you to not give up. Keep praying, and when God does answer your prayer, share the good news with others!

“In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” (Psalm 5:3)

“I wait for you, O LORD; you will answer, O Lord my God.” (Psalm 38:15)

As we wait for our loved ones to make a decision to accept Jesus for themselves, remember the wonderful words of Oswald Chambers, “You can never give another person that which you have found, but you can make him homesick for what you have.”
