New York City is home to one the largest collections of skyscrapers in the world. Do you know how the city is able to support the weight of so many hefty buildings? It has to do with the foundation on which it is built – bedrock. Bedrock is massive rock formation deep in the earth’s crust that’s strong enough to hold enormous pressure and weight.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)
Upon what foundation are you building your life?
“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.” (2 Samuel 22:2-3a)
If we want our foundation to be rock solid, we need to build upon the bedrock of our faith – Jesus Christ.
“See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble
and a rock that makes them fall,
and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (Romans 9:33)
When we build upon the Rock, our lives will be able to withstand enormous pressure, because Jesus bears the strain for us.
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” (Matthew 7:25)
Are you going through difficult times? Is your burden growing too heavy?
Let go and give it to Jesus.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
He’s able to carry the weight of the entire world on His shoulders.
“My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:1-2)
