On Labor Day, the city was going to show the movie Madagascar 3 in the parking lot of a nearby college. Needless to say, kids and parents made up almost the entire audience, so a quiet evening movie was out of the question.
The movie began in black and white with the volume so low it was impossible to hear. Most of us sat back and watched kids running around and having fun. No one was interested in the movie. I didn’t realize a black and white movie could be so boring. But about thirty-five minutes into the movie, we finally had color and sound! This changed the atmosphere very quickly. The children quieted down and became engaged at last. It’s amazing what difference a little color makes.
As I watched the scene around me, I sighed and began thinking of God’s coloring book. He painted the ocean, land, and sky. He made each one of us a different color with different abilities and personalities. All this was done in harmony and unity.
Though we have our differences, God has called us to love one another as He loves us. We must work together to captivate the world by reflecting God’s image. Let us join our hearts together to be witnesses in a dark world and proclaim as David did: “I have proclaimed the good news of righteousness in the great assembly; indeed I do not restrain my lips, O LORD, You Yourself know.” (Psalm 40:9)
Are you fighting or uniting? Just remember… Satan loves to see bickering, envy, and strife!
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like precious oil upon the head, running down the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commanded the blessing, life forevermore.” (Psalm 133:1-3)
