As I walked back from the beach, I was stepping very carefully trying not to get sand in my tennis shoes.  As I looked down, I noticed the path was worn and flattened by many different shoes and footprints.

In that moment, I heard the Lord say: “Many have gone before you or are on the path with you, but your footprint is unique.”

1 Peter 4 was the verses that came to mind:

Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace. For example, if you have a speaking gift, speak as though God were speaking his words through you. If you have the gift of serving, do it passionately with the strength God gives you, so that in everything God alone will be glorified through Jesus Christ. For to him belong the power and the glory forever throughout all ages (1 Peter 4:10-12 TPT)!

I’m not sure what gift you’ve been given or if you ever feel just like everyone else. But I know you’ve been created uniquely, and He’s put in you a special gift. You have a purpose. You are chosen, loved, and God is using your story to bring glory to Him and encouragement to others.

Do you ever look around and think – I’m just like the rest of them; I don’t have anything special to give?

I want you to know that is not true.  I want to tell you that with courage and boldness, use YOUR gift.  Use your footprint to make an impact on someone’s life. Stop comparing yourself to another’s path or walk, or their healing journey to yours.  God will use what you have in His perfect timing.

Today, I want you to put one foot in front of the other and see how He will use what He’s created in you and called you to be.

Father, you created each of us fearfully and wonderfully.  We want You to use us how you see fit today.  Remind us of the work you’ve done in us that you are faithfully going to complete.  Open up doors for us to continue to use our grace gifts.  We want to serve you to the best of our ability and to honor you with our lives.  Thank you for those you’ve put before us to make the path firm and clear. Thank you for Jesus, your Son and the times that we know He can empathize with our pain because He came to live a human life.  Help us to share our story so that others might know You and Your love for them.  We ask all of this according to Your name, Amen.
