Today’s Post By: Rae Lynn DeAngelis

Some time ago, I spoke to a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group about inner beauty.  As I was packing up my things to leave, I was approached by a woman who came to the meeting as a representative for Mary Kay.  She thanked me for my presentation, and we talked about the importance of inner beauty and seeing ourselves through God’s eyes. Before leaving, she asked for my card and said she would be in touch.

A week later I received a call from her. She said that she couldn’t stop thinking about my talk and had already shared my message with some other people.  She felt compelled to meet with me personally so we could talk about how our missions might unite.

I knew she was a Christian, and for that reason alone I wanted to get to know her better, but I honestly couldn’t image how Mary Kay and Living in Truth Ministries had anything in common.  In my mind Living in Truth is about inner beauty, and Mary Kay is about outer beauty.  Although I couldn’t image how the two might connect, I was obedient to God’s leading and followed through with my appointment.

Boy was I ever humbled!  As I sat listening to this woman’s appeal, I learned so many things.  For instance, Mary Kay is a Christian based organization and the entire structure is Christ-centered.  They keep Christian values and principals at the center of all they do.  I was shocked. I had no idea Mary Kay had Christian roots.

This woman is a successful senior sales Director for Mary Kay and through her position of influence has many connections.  She felt compelled to help me connect with some of her contacts to help spread the Living in Truth message.  She felt it was something that really needed to get out there.  Wow, I was amazed that a total stranger would take such an interest in what I was doing – so much so that she would take time from her busy schedule to meet with me and begin brainstorming about how this ministry can reach even more people.

“You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,” (Psalm 10:17)

The timing of it all was so perfect because I had been feeling overwhelmed at the prospect of growing this ministry and was feeling kind of stuck – not knowing where to go next. God totally took over and provided me with some much needed encouragement and incentive to get me moving again.

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

God brought this woman into my life to help spur me on, making me realize the importance of getting this message out more proactively.  The fact that a total stranger has such confidence in this ministry gave me the confidence and needed courage to take this ministry to the next level.

“They approach and come forward; each helps the other and says to his brother, “Be strong! The craftsman encourages the goldsmith, and he who smoothes with the hammer spurs on him who strikes the anvil.” (Isaiah 41:5-7)

No more sitting on the sidelines. With each new day may we seize each and every opportunity that God places in our path.

“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9-10)
