Today’s Post By: Shannon Clark

I wrote yesterday about having to cross an ice cold, swiftly moving stream while on a backpacking trip with my husband this summer.  Thankfully, we didn’t have to cross anything like that the rest of our hike (that is of course until we had to brave it again on the way out).  All the other minor crossings were relatively simple, provided with pleasant stepping stones for more manageable crossings.  Not only did the stepping stones keep us from getting our feet wet and muddy, they made the entire hike easier and faster.  We didn’t have to keep stopping and considering how to get across; the way to go was clear.

Two years ago, the Holy Spirit prompted me to join a Living in Truth class – one that was geared toward women with eating disorders and body image issues.  Struggling with the latter for the majority of my life, I was eager to attend and learn more about how to overcome my poor self-image.

What a stepping stone that class was for me!  Since then, God has used the Living in Truth Ministry to provide many stepping stones toward my freedom from insecurity.  I’m not quite there yet, but God is still moving, working, and providing more solid stones for me to step on and guide me.

Whatever our struggles, He does this with each of us.

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on rock and gave me a firm place to stand.” (Psalm 40:2)

“As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.” (2 Samuel 22:31)

“Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.” (Psalm 119:133)

“Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25)

When you continually combine God’s Holy Spirit with the truths found in His Word, you receive stepping stone after stepping stone.  What a blessing!
