Money was tight back then, so when it came time to buying appliances we purchased used – not new. After scouring newspaper ads (that’s how we did it back then), we found a great deal on a washer, dryer, and refrigerator. The appliances were over ten years old with crazy 70’s colors, but we didn’t care. We were just happy to have something that worked.Amazingly, these same appliances were still working after fourteen years of marriage. And when we finally did replace the old relics, the new machines began having problems within just a few short years.It seems things are no longer built to last. Manufacturers are more concerned about making money by getting a product on market in record time, rather than putting out a product that lasts.A similar mentality can be applied to Christianity. Many today do not put forth the time and effort needed to build a strong, lasting relationship with God. As a result, when tragedy or hard times strike, their faith falters.But since they have no root
