Life. What is it? It might be the game Life, Life magazine, life insurance, Walk for Life, Life Alert, or even Lifesavers.
Today, I got to experience watching three tiny lives crack out of shells. A few weeks ago, my friend let me borrow her incubator to help hatch some fertilized chicken eggs. I was astounded to see the feathery puffs popping their little heads out of these eggs. They were wobbly on their feet and even made peeps! Like many of you, I crack eggs into a pan to eat but never think about the lives developing inside fertilized ones!
God creates life. There is no way anyone could ever produce a living creature from nothing. He created male and female to produce life. Through this unity came God’s design for the family structure. One male + one female = 1 child or children, Total sum = FAMILY.
Recently, the Pregnancy Care Center in our area had their annual Walk for Life. Although I cannot understand how any woman could go through aborting her baby, I know it happens many times a day and in places all over the world. Some women do it out of peer or parental pressure, some out of fear, others out of selfishness or feeling inadequate to raise a child. Perhaps you or someone you love has known the heartache of making such a life-altering decision. Sweet sister, if abortion is part of your story, please know that forgiveness is readily available from the Lord. He is waiting with open arms to not only forgive, but to also restore and heal you. As only God can, He will bring beauty from your ashes if you let Him.
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
“All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name” (Acts 10:43).
Life is precious. Every life both inside and outside the womb is precious in God’s sight. All lives matter because all lives were created by God Himself.
“Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature” (Genesis 2:7). “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they” (Matthew 6:26-27)?
If you are a woman struggling with your value, God has given His full assurance of your worth. He made you in His own image. He loves you so much that “He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
When you study God’s Word and spend time in prayer with Him, you will begin to see yourself through God’s eyes. The lies Satan feeds you will begin to fade, and they will be replaced with joy and acceptance.
That unformed yolk sitting in that dark hard shell will begin to develop, and the shell wall will be broken by new life. Don’t allow fear to prevent you from seeing the light. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
