Have you asked God what He was up to during this quarantine? Well, last week, I did. He showed me my house and a bulldozer removing everything that surrounded it. If you were to walk out any door, there would be a big cliff. The foundation was fully exposed. They were clean cuts too. They were intentional and clear. It was like my house was an island. I began to look around and see all other houses were the same.
I asked the Lord, “What does this mean?”
He simply told me, “I’m exposing your foundation. I want to work on the inside of the homes.” It’s an inside job. He wants to be our foundation. He wants to heal, redeem, restore and bring back to life the inside of me and the inside of homes. I was blown away, ready to surrender it all. I wasn’t surprised that what He’s doing is good and what only He can do during quarantine.
If I’m honest, it’s been refreshing to have all the things cancelled. It’s like I can breath again and refocus. It’s also been terrifying letting go of control and being exposed. I don’t have the busyness to numb myself and cover up.
We must start with what our foundation is built on. Once that is established, there’s so much good that comes from working on the inside of our heart, soul, and mind. It’s not easy…trust me, I’ve seen some ugly come out of my heart, my mouth, my actions. It doesn’t bother him. He already knows. He’s happy to take it and replace it with His truth.
Picture your home. Look at the foundation. Are there cracks? Is it shifting? Or is it solid on Him? When the outside is stripped away, what is left? What idols are holding up your foundation? Has something snuck it’s way in? Then think of the inside work He may want to do. It may be starting with the fear that’s paralyzing you, or helping you love yourself more. We’ve been forced to remove the busyness and distractions that have preoccupied us. But it’s still up to you to unlock and open the inside to Jesus.
Is there a relationship that needs to heal? Maybe there are phone calls you need to make to people to set things right or ask for forgiveness or give forgiveness.
Do not be in a hurry to end this. Do not waste this time. Simply ask the Lord what HE would like for you to do with HIS time. It’s all His anyway. The faster we surrender and watch to see the good He’s up to, the better off will be at the end of this quarantine. Ask Him to make this your finest hour, the hour you rise up and fix your eyes on Him and reestablish the foundation of your life, on the true rock, the cornerstone. He loves you deeply. Give Him permission to do this work.
Could there be any other god like You? You are the only God to be worshiped, for there is not a more secure foundation to build my life upon than you (Psalm 18:31).
Everyone who hears my teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation (Matthew 7:24,25).
Don’t you know? Haven’t you been listening? Yahweh is the one and only everlasting God, the Creator of all you can see and imagine! He never gets weary or worn out. His intelligence is unlimited; he is never puzzled over what to do! He empowers the feeble and infuses the powerless with increasing strength. Even young people faint and get exhausted; athletic ones may stumble and fall. But those who wait for Yahweh’s grace will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their race without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up (Isaiah 40:28-31).
