God recently taught me a valuable life lesson.
Typically I’m a rule follower. Tell me what you expect from me, and I’ll do it. Show me how you want it done, and I’ll complete it ahead of schedule and beyond your expectations.
However, during a recent Bible study class, while working through the questions from our homework assignment, I suddenly realized I hadn’t answered the last two questions.
It wasn’t because I didn’t know the answers or didn’t have time to finish the assignment. I simply neglected to turn the page in the book.
Thinking I was at the end of the lesson, I realized there was so much more to be learned.
I love it when God provides profound lessons from the ordinary, mundane parts of life. He does it to teach us more about ourselves and the world around us.
Sometimes (no matter how hard we try to be organized, ready, and prepared) questions go unanswered and things get left undone. It’s true in Bible study, and it’s true in life.
Circumstances change, people move on, and life gets crazy. Are we going to settle for status quo (safe, stagnant, and comfortable) or are we willing to turn the page and see what God has next.
Friend, your story isn’t over yet. As long as you have breath, there’s more to be written.
Take God’s hand, turn the page, and begin the next chapter. Who knows? It just might be your most amazing adventure yet.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
“Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)
