When I opened the door to the room where our healing group was going to be held, I was met with a wonderful surprise—the delightful aroma of flowers.
Sitting on the table by the door was a card addressed to the girls in our group. There was also a variety of potted flowers and stunning bouquets for the women to take home and enjoy.
Upon reading the unsigned card, I was a bit perplexed as to how the flowers got there.
After a mini investigation, we reasoned that it was most likely the spiritual growth leader. He was the one in charge of the healing groups at our campus.
To confirm our hypothesis, I sent an email thanking him for his kind gesture. His reply proved our theory correct when he wrote back, “You’re very welcome!”
Later that week, I had the opportunity to talk with him in person and asked what prompted him to leave the flowers for us.
He learned that the study material that week was challenging and so he wanted to bless us in some way.
The director had no idea about the significance of his gift to us.
I explained how flowers were a major part of the branding for Living in Truth Ministries and that we frequently draw parallels to flowers throughout the program.
Although the director had no clue about the significance of his gift to us, God most certainly did.
Jake became the hands and feet of Jesus. His loving gesture became the means through which our Lord’s presence had been made known.
We may never fully realize the impact of our simple acts of kindness on others; however, one thing is for sure. Each act of kindness leaves behind the delightful fragrance of Jesus.
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” (2 Corinthians 2:14)
