Although time in the hospital can be difficult to endure, it’s sometimes unavoidable.
I’ve had a few overnight stays of my own, and while I’m not exactly a fan of the hospital, I’ve experienced something delightful during each of my visits—the infamous heated blanket.
Infirmary blankets are heated through some sort of warming device and kept ready to help patients relax when they’re feeling pain or discomfort. I don’t know who came up with the idea, but it’s genius! The warmth of the blanket offers patients immediate comfort and relief.
It seems that God’s Word has a similar effect.
A girl in one of my healing groups shared how the Words of God enveloped her like a warm blanket each time she read through them. Peace and serenity washed over her in a way she had never before experienced.
It’s amazing when someone is able to put into words the exact sentiments you’ve been feeling but couldn’t accurately express.
The comfort that God provides through His Word is immediate. It’s as if God is saying, “It’s going to be okay. I’ve got this!”
God has this world and everything in it in the palm of His hand. He knows exactly what we are going through, and He offers to carry us safely through to the other side.
Are you going through a difficult time?
Allow God’s life-affirming truths to warm your heart, calm your spirit, and give you much needed hope and encouragement.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the lord your God goes with you; he will never leave or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
“The righteous cry out and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:17-18)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
“In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” (Romans 8:26)
