“You say, ‘But He has been unwise to choose me, because there is nothing in me; I am not of any value.’ That is why He chose you. As long as you think there is something in you, He cannot choose you because you have ends of your own to serve; but if you let Him bring you to the end of your self-sufficiency, then He can choose you to go with Him to Jerusalem.” ~Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
It feels good to complete a project you have been working on for a long time. There is a certain sense of accomplishment that comes with knowing it was a job well done.
Whether you’re a student working on a school assignment, a housewife tackling laundry, an employee making a presentation, or a mom raising kids—we are called to give our very best. It doesn’t matter if we have all the answers or know how something is going to turn out. We are merely asked to follow God’s lead and do what He calls us to do. The rest is up to Him.
Sometimes we don’t get to see the end result of our hard work. We must simply trust God to work out everything for His good plan and purpose. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
When I started this ministry, I had no idea what it was supposed to look like or how things were going to play out. All I really knew was that God was calling me to minister to women who were living in bondage to the lies of this world. God showed me the need, and I trusted Him to lead the way. Step by step I continue to follow.
I am not the least bit qualified by the world’s standards to be doing what I’m doing. But thankfully, God doesn’t typically call the qualified—He qualifies the called. Through joys and sorrows, strengths and weakness, and successes and failures, God shapes me for His Kingdom purposes.
“Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-30)
We may never see the full impact of what God does through our meager offerings in life, but that’s okay. We simply need to give our all and fulfill each responsibility as it comes our way. In humble submission we must continue to follow Jesus so that we will one day hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” (Matthew 25:21)
