Have you noticed that our minds never really age, yet our bodies drastically do? Interestingly enough, I don’t consciously recognize the fact that I am getting older until I see someone from my past. Then I’m hit with a bold reminder! My body might be getting older, but I’m still young at heart.
This morning in my devotion time I came across a Scripture that spoke a wonderful truth to my spirit.
“Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)
With each passing day, our bodies surrender evermore to the effects of aging. Some yield to this process a little more gracefully than others. Sure, we can buy the latest products to delay the effects of aging, but eventually, if we live long enough, we must all surrender to the fact that we ARE getting older.
Even though I am ‘wasting away’ on the outside, each day, I am being renewed on the inside when I spend the very first part of my day with God in prayer and Bible study.
God ministers to our spirit through the counsel of His Word and teaches us something new about who He is, who we are, and who He desires us to become.
In His presence we are made new.
Are you making time for God to renew your spirit? It truly is the best anti-aging product around. After all, a relationship with Jesus brings everlasting life!
Think of it this way… with each passing day, we are one step closer to seeing our Jesus face to face where…
“…There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
