Even though I’m an adult I still love a good fairy tale – especially ones with a knight in shining armor riding in to save the day. There is something that resonates deep inside our hearts when a prince rushes in on a white horse to rescue his fair maiden from eminent peril. Our hearts cheer as the story comes to a climactic end. Safe in the arms of her prince, the two ride off into the sunset, back to the kingdom, ready to enjoy their happily ever after.
“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30)
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns.” (Revelation 19:11-12)
The reason our hearts echo with joy at these enchanting tales is because one day you and I will experience our own fairy tale ending.
The Bible narrates how one day our Prince (Jesus) will ride a white horse, and coming on the clouds with all His glory and majesty, He will rescue His Beloved from eminent peril. Make no mistake; Jesus is coming back to reclaim His fair maiden (you and me), and when He does, He will once and for all liberate us from this fallen world. Like a knight in shining armor, our LORD will sweep us into His arms and carry us off to His Kingdom where we too will live happily ever after.
The next time you are reading about or watching a fairy tale with a child use it as an opportunity to tell the captivating story of Jesus. Tell how our real life Knight in Shining Armor will one day carry us off to His Kingdom, our eternal home in heaven, where our King will rule forevermore.
“Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 22:12-13)
“Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book.” (Revelation 22:7)
