“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
Do you realize we could spend our entire lives reading, studying and even memorizing Scripture, but if the words and truths do not penetrate our hearts and convict us to change the way we think, act and live it is of no real benefit to us?
God does not want us to simply read, study and forget His Word. He wants us to examine, comprehend and apply His Word! When we do the latter, God opens the floodgates of heaven and releases a downpour of His blessings into our lives.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it – he will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:22-25)
Heavenly Father, today and everyday may your Words change me into the person you desire me to be. Stir my heart through your Word and make it come alive in my life. May I never take you for granted, and help me to always treasure your Words as the wonderful gift of counsel you intended them to be. Amen
