American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, popularized a song on the radio called Jesus Take the Wheel. The concept behind this song hits home for many. Like the young woman described in the song, it is not until we see our lives spinning out of control that we finally cry out to Jesus for help.

Surrender is one of the most difficult things to do, but it’s absolutely necessary if we truly want to receive the help God has to offer. Jesus needs to take control of our lives, and we need to take a back seat.

“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.” (Psalm 119:35)

Where do you find yourself today?

Getting to your destination safe and sound greatly depends on who’s in the driver’s seat.

“He reached down from on high and took hold of me;
he drew me out of deep waters.
He rescued me from my powerful enemy,
from my foes, who were too strong for me.
They confronted me in the day of my disaster,
but the LORD was my support.
He brought me out into a spacious place;
he rescued me because he delighted in me.” (Psalm 18:16-19)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

It’s time to let go of the wheel. God can take it from here.
