“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

During a time when I was overwhelmed and stressed, I seemed to be making a lot of careless mistakes, and my mind was in a bit of a fog. Thankfully, God knew my heart and recognized my mistakes were not intentional. Like a knight in shining armor, the Lord came to my rescue. Allow me to explain.

I had just ordered some books for our new class I was leading.  It should not have been a difficult task. I order books all the time. But this time it became a bit of a nightmare.

I had an opportunity to take advantage of a free shipping program Amazon was implementing.  It would help reduce our costs, but I wasn’t sure how it worked; so I called and spoke with a representative to make sure I was signing up properly.  The helpful Amazon representative stayed on the line and walked me through the process. Together, we looked at the books I needed to order online, and I noticed there were a couple of different options for ordering, and one of them was considerably less than the other.  When I asked the representative about the difference he said the price reflected the location from which the books were being shipped.

Trying to be a good steward of our ministry finances I decided to order the lower priced books.  As an extra bonus, because we ordered so many books at one time, we received an additional price break. Wow, things were really working in our favor!  With the free two day shipping program in place, the books were scheduled to arrive a few days before our class was to begin.

The books had been delivered on a Friday, but I didn’t notice them because I had to leave for a retreat at my church.  When I got home Saturday afternoon, I was so exhausted that I crashed and took a nap in the recliner.

Later that evening, I noticed the two packages in our bedroom and thought, great, the books are here! One of the packages had a single book in it, and when I picked it up I got a sick feeling in my stomach… the package was very light – too light.  I tore open the package and my fear was confirmed.  It was the wrong book! The book was only a study guide.

Now I was in a real panic!  I immediately cried out, Lord, please help me! What am I going to do? I rushed upstairs to my computer and got online to reorder the right books, but the two day shipping option was going to be too late. The one day shipping would have cost us and additional $80!

I called Amazon and asked to speak with a supervisor.  I explained to him the situation and, God bless him, he was so kind and sympathetic.  He explained to me that since the representative had helped me order the wrong books in the first place, he would give me a credit to cover the cost of the one day shipping.

Praise God! The books arrived on my front porch just 2 ½ hours before my class was to begin. My Knight in shining armor!
