“And it will be said: ‘Build up, build up, prepare the road! Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.’” (Isaiah 57:14)

When I got in my car to go somewhere, I was quickly reminded of my driving experience the day before. Bugs had splattered my windshield making it difficult to see the road ahead. Distraction prevailed as my attention kept getting drawn towards the splotches.

Before I took off down the road again, I decided that I had better clean my windshield, so I ran back in the house, grabbed some paper towels and window cleaner, and spent the next few minutes cleaning away the sticky mess.

Bugs on the windshield are not the only distractions obscuring our clear line of vision.  Worry, fatigue, stress, fear, strained relationships, and poor health can be just as aggravating. Unfortunately, these types of diversions are not so easily removed.  We need more than Windex and paper towels to see clearly again.  We need God’s help.

“Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths.” (Psalm 25:4)

God wants our focus to be on Him and the road He has before us, but don’t be fooled, Satan will use the distractions in our lives to keep us immobilized.  In the same way that windshield wipers are ineffective at clearing away splattered bugs, personal attempts to clean up our lives by our own merit is hopeless.

Thankfully, God is always ready and willing to help clear away the unwanted fragments. All we need to do is ask for His help.

Are you having trouble seeing beyond the many diversions in your life? Don’t allow distractions to obstruct your clear line of vision any longer. Although he may not remove them completely, God will definitely help you see things more clearly and get you moving in the right direction again.

“You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)
